The initial release of ggguitar is available on CRAN!  This package allows you to create guitar tablature in the style of ggplot2.  As a quick example, the C Major chord shown above can be created as follows.

library(ggguitar)
C_M <- 0="" 1="" 2="" 3="" b="" c="">
tablature(‘C Major’, C_M)

The tablature function takes the name of the chord for the first argument and a six element vector representing the six strings of the guitar.  An NA indicates a string that is not played, zero represents an open string, and a number indicates a fret where a finger is to be placed on the specified string.

The “String” and “Fret” labels and corresponding axis ticks are optional.

tablature(‘C Major’, C_M, FALSE, FALSE)

See the package at CRAN, the vignette, or the code at Github for more information.
