R is a statistical programming language and can be a little scary at first. I learned it during my first statistics class. While others used Stata, I decided to try if I could do the tasks in R. That was probably one of my best research-choices.

My main source of knowledge was Quick-R that’s an excellent resource. It goes through the basics and I still visit it every now and then. The Cookbook for R is also a great place to visit.

Yesterday I discovered about Anthony Damico’s R videos: an amazing collection of introductory two-minute videos. I’ve taught basic R and statistics and this would have been of huge help.

If you’re uncomfortable with coding and want to start with a menu based interface Rcmdr might be a good option.
