CANDIDATE PROFILE:

Giant Oak seeks full time computer scientists/engineers interested in advancing national security, particularly in the areas of threat finance, political economy, fraud detection, computer forensics, and financial engineering. Experience with social network analysis highly desired. Giant Oak develops and applies social science and computer science to large datasets, to advance security goals on issues such as financial threats, insurgency, crime and terrorism. The ideal candidate will have  an advanced degree in a scientific or engineering discipline (e.g. computer science, electrical engineering) and possess proficiency in quantitative methods and related software, including but not limited to C, C++, Java, JavaScript, R, and Python. Some coursework or demonstrated interest in economics, national security, homeland security, law enforcement, or intelligence preferred. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen. Ability to obtain and hold a TS/SCI clearance is required.

The City University of New York recently launched an online M.S. in Data Analytics and we are in the process of growing our faculty community. We have openings for part-time instructors in data visualization, data acquisition and management, machine learning, predictive analytics, and web analytics. The M.S. in Data Analytics is a professionally oriented online degree that focuses on 1.) quantitative methods (probability, statistics, linear algebra, calculus, and social network analysis); 2.) programming and data management; and 3.) practical business applications (marketing, business, web analytics, data mining, transportation, healthcare and more). Our project-oriented curriculum requires students to use some combination of analytic tools in each course, e.g., R, Python, MongoDB, Hadoop, Tableau, D3.js, and Maps API among others.  We value good teaching skills, solid pedagogy, and availability to support working professionals.
