R will soon reach a magic milestone – but how soon exactly? Predict the date and win!

Over the past years, the popularity of R has unstoppably increased – and so has the number of R packages available on CRAN. As a result, the international R community will soon reach the next big milestone:
10,000 R packages.

eoda is therefore hosting a contest offering participants a chance to win an Amazon gift card worth 100€ by estimating the publication date of the 10,000th R package. Although guessing is a legitimate approach, the contest aims at motivating R users to create an estimation model predicting the correct date based on historical data.

Every participant can submit one prediction until January 8, 2017 at 23:59 CET. Estimates can be submitted via Twitter (send a tweet with your proposed date, #Rstatsgoes10k and @eodaGmbH) and Facebook (comment on our Facebook page with your proposed date and #Rstatsgoes10k).

The gift card will be raffled among all participants who submitted the correct date, which will be determined by the package counting on the CRAN website. May the foRce be with you all!

Contestants need to be 18 years or older to be eligible to participate. Employees of eoda and their immediate families are not eligible to participate. All decisions regarding this contest are final.
