See ?sunspot.year in R for more information about the data. I did this last spring and just discovered it again. I’ve been so caught up in the current sound world of playitbyr (see this post for an example) that I forgot how good standard MIDI instruments can sound for this kind of thing. I find this much easier to listen to than a lot of what I’ve come out with more recently.

The code is a total hack right now; if you have a Unix-like computer with MIDICSV and Timidity installed it should work, but for everyone else it might be a pain. Hopefully playitbyr will include this functionality soon.
