If you’re one of the R-bloggers or useRs, most probably you had heard about Crdata.org. In the early day, they are two very R related cloud computing services, one is CloudNumbers, another is CrData.org.
Recently, we (may) received an email by Hamid Bolouri.

advisory notice: CRdata.org to shut down

Dear CRdata user;

Due to lack of continued funding, CRdata.org will be shut down on
January 31st, 2012.  Please be sure to retrieve all your data and
script files from CRdata.org before this date.

Thank you for your interest and support. The source code for CRdata will continue to be freely available from github (under the highly permissive MIT licence):

https://github.com/seerdata/crdata

We urge you to pick up the code and adapt it to your needs.

Our best wishes;

The idea of browser-based R is great, also the reason why CloudStat is here. Just need to consider if it was the right time to offer cloud R and how can the service is to be sustainable. CloudNumbers is doing great by commercializing their services.

For those who are interested to join us in Cloud + R, please not hesitate to visit or offer a help to:

  1. CrData.org (Research)
  2. CloudNumbers (Commercial)
  3. CloudStat (Research)

Thanks a lot.
