GigaOm article on R, Big Data and Data Science

I'm really pleased that an article I wrote, “5 real-world uses of big data“, has been published in the widely-read technology blog GigaOm. In the article, I review five examples of using data science techniques and R to make sense of some large real-world data sets:

These are all great real-world examples of R applications, and I'm glad GigaOm was able to give them all some wide exposure. As I wrote in the article:

These are but a few brief examples of the exciting work that’s being undertaken in the rapidly growing discipline of data science. More and more, data analysis is being relied on to provide context for critical business decisions, a trend that promises to increase as data sets grow larger and more complex and scientists continue to push the limits of statistical innovation.
