I don’t normally post job ads except when they are within my own research group. But this one is close to my research interests, and I’d like to help the institution find someone good for the role, so I’m making an exception.

It is a position for a post-doctoral researcher at the Centre for Energy & Processes, MINES Paris Tech, France.

The candidate to be appointed will carry out research on the development of approaches for forecasting the power output of renewable power sources (i.e. wind, photovoltaic). Emphasis will be given among others on methods for estimating the uncertainty of such forecasts and also on extreme events.

Background in at least one of the following fields is requested:

  • applied mathematics
  • time series analysis
  • meteorology
  • sound knowledge in electrical engineering
  • stochastic processes
  • decision making under uncertainty
  • optimisation methods

Expected also:

  • experience in programming languages like R, Matlab
  • good communication skills both orally and in written English
