RStudio™ is an integrated development environment (IDE) for the statistical software R (www.r-project.org). It combines an intuitive user interface with powerful coding tools to help you get the most out of R.

cloudnumbers.com provides researchers and companies with the access to resources to perform high performance calculations in the cloud. One often used application at cloudnumbers.com’s computer clusters in the cloud is the statistical software R.

We are happy to announce that, from today on, cloudnumbers.com offers RStudio as additional environment for R programming in the cloud.

Choose RStudio as your application in the cluster configuration process and as soon as the computer cluster is up and running you can start RStudio from a tab in the cloudnumbers.com’s web console.

In your web browser a new tab will open and “RStudio in the web” is ready to use in the cloud.

There are several benefits for using RStudio:

Therefore, RStudio is the perfect extension for high-performance computing with R in the cloud. Furthermore, RStudio at cloudnumbers.com simplifies the use of computer clusters. So far, the user had to start his R session with special MPI command (see Using MPI with R). With RStudio this is no more required. MPI binding is automatically created in the background and you can start your computer cluster using the packages snow, Rmpi or foreach without any additional steps.
