A while ago, I wrote about soccer odds in Germany. Specifically I wrote about the odds of relegation for two local teams; SV Darmstadt and Eintracht Frankfurt.
As the season progressed in quite a negative sense, the question is still relevant.
Let’s have a quick look at the current tableau.
There are only two matches to go. The last two teams will go down, while the team placed on the third to last position plays the direct relegation (two games against the third team in the second league).
For the last couple of months I scraped the data from bookies on a somewhat regular basis.
We see the odds of relegation (directly going to the second league over time). As Hannover has no chance to recover, the odds stopped to update.
So here it is; Darmstadt has a chance of 17% of going down, and Frankfurt a chance of only 40% of staying in the league. They basically swapped places since my last analysis.
Well, let’s keep our fingers crossed, and hope for the best.
Edit on 9th of May’16:
What a matchday! Eintracht Frankfurt scored big time against Dortmund. While they are not off the hook (yet), the odds have changed, with only one game to go.

Darmstadt won in Berlin and is save. This was almost as unlikely as Leicester winning the Premier League at the beginning of the season ;).
