Free R Help: October Edition

October 5, 2015

Last Month I offered 10 slots of Free R Help and the response was overwhelming. About 100 people requested slots, which was much more than I expected. Many of the people who I helped had taken online R courses such as the Coursera Data Science Specialization, but were struggling with applying what they learned to their own projects. Overall I was impressed by the depth and breadth of projects that people brought to the sessions. Thank you very much to everyone who participated!

Most of the participants reminded me of where I was a few years ago. I had a project idea that excited me, was convinced that R was a good tool for solving it, but kept on running into problems that seemed like they “should” be easy. Since then I’ve since written popular R packages, presented my work at conferences and run several tutorials.

By and large I was able to help the people who signed up. Even better, helping people in this way was genuinely enjoyable for me!

Because of this I have decided to give away another five sessions of free R help in October. These sessions will be 60 minutes and I will be doing one per day next week (October 12 – October 23). If you are interested in participating then you can claim a space here. Note: one of the goals of this program is for me to get a chance to meet more of my readers. Because of this, if you participated in last month’s program, please don’t claim a spot this time around!

Several of the people who took free sessions last month asked me to start offering more structured, longer term help on a paid basis. Today I am happy to announce the launch of that program as well. The first step in this program is a free 30 minute consultation with me via Skype. You can learn more about that program, including how to schedule the Skype call, here.
