The video above is from an event at useR! 2014 consisting of Yasmin Lucero’s presentation plus an incredible panel discussion, which is included here. The title of the panel was “R’s Place in the Production Environment”, and was moderated by Tareef Kawaf, President at RStudio. Five high-profile members of the R community were on this panel, spanning the gamut of the enterprise:

  • Pete Myer – Senior Ads Quality Statistician at Google
  • Alex Toth – DevOps Architect with Gravity-Aol
  • Ajay Gopal – VP of Growth and Data Science at CARD.com
  • Vladimir Ryzhov –  Game Analyst at Activision
  • Hilary Parker – Senior Data Analyst at Etsy

The panel provides invaluable insight into the day-to-day life of Data Scientists and analysts in the enterprise. Discussions range from the deep technical implications of configuration management across distributed systems to the diversity of backgrounds which are attracted to data as a career, and is an invaluable resource for organizations looking to operationalize their data. We hope your enjoy learning more about R and its uses in industry!

This event was co-located with useR!2014, and was organized by the LA R Meetup. If you would like to be receive announcements for the LA R Meetup or the DataScience.LA community, sign up to our mailing list here.
