Prize4Life, and NEALS are proud to announce the launch of the Pooled Resources Open Access ALS Clinical Trial (PRO-ACT) database.
It is a database of ALS clinical trials and contains 8500+ patients records, and over 8 million data points, making is not only the biggest AS clinical trial database currently available, but one of the largest clinical trial databases currently existing. It is openly available to research around the world.
Last summer we run a challenge on this data where solvers had to write an R program to predict patient progression. The winning algorithms can reduce the cost for each individual future clinical trial by $6 million- meaning more trials, and more treatments for ALS.
Data mining of the PRO-ACT using R is expected to lead to the identification of disease biomarkers, provide insight into the natural history of disease, as well as insights into the design and interpretation of clinical trials, each of which would bring us closer to finding a cure and treatment for ALS. The PRO-ACT database has been recently re-launched with more standardized and research ready data.
Now we finally have the data that may hold the key. The only thing missing is you. The next ALS breakthrough can be yours….
